Chapter Seven

“SHE IS MY RESPONSIBILITY, and she stays with me. Yelling is not going to make me change my mind.” Erak glowered at his sister, then leaned against the edge of his desk at command headquarters. He’d already apologized to her for overreacting the day before—numerous times. He’d also informed her that under no circumstances was Libby going to be allowed to go anywhere without him. Luckily, Libby had excused herself from the room to give them time to talk and couldn’t hear their heated exchange.

“I think you are being unreasonable,” Nyssa said.

“I do not care.”

Erak glared at his sister. “Since Synge is spending some time with his mate, I agreed to assist Dathan with the recruit training. You will not leave this building, and you will not get into any trouble.” He pushed away from the desk. “Or do I need to assign you an escort as well?”

“You wouldn’t dare.”

He curled his hand around his communicator.

“Fine. We will not leave the building,” she groaned, then stormed toward the door.

His sister might have agreed with him, but he knew better than to believe she would comply with his request. He’d already arranged for Torin to keep an eye on the women without alerting them to his presence.

The training session had taken less time than Erak had expected. After finishing his shower and putting on a clean uniform, he looked forward to finding Libby and heading home early. He was halfway down the hall leading to his office when his communicator beeped.

Seeing Torin’s name on the screen, he tensed. “Please tell me my sister did not try to leave.”

“She is still here, but you might want to get your ass over to training area three.” The link disconnected before he could ask what kind of problems she could possibly have caused now. With dread gnawing at his insides, he quickly changed direction. Reaching his destination in record time, he rushed into the room and nearly collided with a small group of hunters.

He pushed his way through to see what had attracted their attention. Dumbfounded and on the verge of losing his temper, he stared at Libby facing off with his sister on one of the training pads. Determination strained her features as she prepared to defend herself.

She’d secured her golden locks at the back of her head. Both females had changed their clothes, and his sister was wearing one of the outfits she’d been given when she’d enrolled for training. He wasn’t sure what Libby was wearing. Whatever it was didn’t have nearly enough fabric. Her arms, legs, and midsection were bare, exposing her shapely body. It explained why the group of males hovered inside the room.

She had no idea how exquisite she was, or how appealing. He wanted to drag her from the room. The last thing he needed was to cause a scene in front of his peers. It took every ounce of self-control to keep his pace slow and restrained as he walked across the room. “What do you think you are doing?”

Nyssa rolled her eyes and shook her head.
